Dana Sue Walker Bio

“A native of Louisville, I received my undergraduate degree in business from the University of Louisville.  After working in marketing for Hartford Insurance Co. and as an investment advisor for Prudential-Bache Securities, I returned to graduate school and received a Masters of Divinity degree from the Presbyterian Theological Seminary.  After starting a family, I returned to work in the non-profit sector in development for Planned Parenthood of Louisville and The Association of Community Ministries, and then in marketing for the PCUSA in Stewardship and Publishing.  The next twelve years I utilized my business skills to co-manage a family flag business with my mother and sister.

A continuous thread throughout my life has been my desire to learn and grow – personally, professionally and spiritually.  I have found through transitions – both wanted and unwanted – that my writing and other spiritual practices, along with connecting and sharing with women of wisdom – has provided me great strength.  My reflection on the retreats I co-led and organized through my faith community, as well as the many others I attended – helped me realize the profound affect these events had on my life.  After much journaling, research, and interviewing deeply spiritual women, Spirit of Sophia: The Women’s Spirituality Center of Louisville was formed in June of 2015.  Through the offering of workshops, study circles, and retreats,  I am grateful to be a part of an organization that helps women rediscover their true voice – as they share their wisdom with one another on their spiritual paths.”    Dana Sue Walker, M.Div.
