Healing – It’s an Inside Job!

Happy Cells

Healing – It’s an Inside Job!         And It’s Never Too Late!

As a newborn baby and throughout much of my life, I was sick. I didn’t think I was sick. I thought that what I experienced was normal. It never occurred to me that I – Myself – had any influence on my well being.

I have since learned that WE are the greatest factor in our well being! Our bodies hold the patterns of illness and health at a cellular level. And we now know that our DNA is NOT our destiny – gene expression can be turned on or off by the “environment.”

Most of us would point “outside” of ourselves to describe the environment. However, only a few layers of skin separate us from what we normally think of as environment. AND – there is no true barrier between out there and in here.  We are one with our environment!  Maybe today’s “environment” is an expression of our collective health (or lack thereof)!?

Tissues, organs, cells—work tirelessly day-in and day-out. Do you ever think about them?

What if, for the time that it takes to finish reading this, you could imagine that all the cells of your body are reading it too!? Cells who work non-stop, die off and are replaced on a regular basis. Those are YOUR cells. That is YOU.

What are you feeding them (body, mouth, mind)?

Would you agree that YOU can learn – new ideas, new habits, new attitudes? (I hope so). You ARE your cells – so your cells are learning new things too.  Whatever you think, your cells are responding. Whatever you eat, your cells eat too. There are NOT two YOUs – inside and outside!

From the SGI-USA Buddhism tradition, the 13th century founder, Nichiren Daishonin explained “There are not two lands, pure or impure in themselves. The difference lies solely in the good or evil of our minds.” WND, Vol. 1,p. 4  If we “are” what we eat, might we also manifest, through our body, mouth and mind, what we believe/think?

I leave you with a small challenge – Start today to take a minute to “go inside” and thank the cells that are devoted to you and your life. And maybe, you could even ask for a little guidance on making one simple change?

—-Yours in healing—It’s an inside job!
