Brenda Hudson, PhD, is a teacher, certified journal facilitator, author, and creative writer. Brenda loves helping families capture their stories across generations. Her how-to book Story by Story: 15 Projects to Write Your Family Legacy is based on her successful legacy writing workshops. Writing has been a constant companion throughout Brenda’s life and career. As a child, she used writing to help figure things out, expressing thoughts and asking questions in her journal. In her adult life, she worked in journalism at NBC News in London and New York and at the BBC World Service Television in London. After living abroad for nearly 10 years, she returned to the Midwest, where she worked as a health sciences writer at the University of Minnesota and obtained her PhD from the university’s Department of Writing Studies. She is a credentialed journal facilitator through the Therapeutic Writing Institute. Today, in addition to leading creative writing workshops, she teaches academic writing to doctoral students.
