Sophia’s Study Circle will explore The Wisdom of the Body: A Contemplative Journey To Wholeness For Women by Christine Valters Paintner this July and August.
Paintner is the author of nine books on monasticism and creativity, including The Artist’s Rule; Water, Wind, Earth and Fire; and The Soul of a Pilgrim. She leads pilgrimages in Ireland, Austria and Germany. She is a Benedictine Oblate in Galway, Ireland, with her husband, John, and manages AbbeyoftheArts.com. Her books are great for group study – and this new one in particular, we think you will find nourishing and provocative.
Author Paula Huston sums up the book beautifully: “Christine Valters Paintner is so much more than a truly fine writer; she’s a teacher, a guide, and a friend along the way. In The Wisdom of the Body, she once again plumbs ancient monastic wisdom to help solve a contemporary problem; the sad rift between the body and soul that too often limits our experience of God.” (book cover)
We will meet for 4 sessions for discussion and contemplative experiences.*
